Prof Desmond Bokor

Orthopaedic Surgery

Professor Desmond Bokor is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with a particular interest in shoulder and elbow surgery. His research interests are in the areas of instability, biomechanics and arthroplasty design. He has numerous publications in journals, book chapters and seminars. He graduated from Monash University in Melbourne with Honours and completed his Orthopaedic Training in Sydney on the Australian Orthopaedic Association Training Programme. Following this he completed fellowships in Sports Medicine/Knee Surgery in Sydney with Drs Mervyn Cross and Leo Pinczewski and then spent time at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, as a Fellow training in Shoulder Surgery with Dr Richard Hawkins.

He has a Masters of Higher Education (Medical) from Macquarie University. He is a founding member of the Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia and has held the positions of both Secretary and President. He is also a corresponding member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Society, the Australian Orthopaedic Association and the Australian Medical Association. Des Bokor is an Examiner in Orthopaedic Surgery on the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Court of Examiners and is also a Sub-Editor for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow
Surgery and a reviewer for the Malaysian Orthopaedic Journal.

He is currently the Clinical Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery in the Faculty of Medicine, Health & Human Sciences at Macquarie University,
Sydney, NSW Australia and works at the Northern Beaches Hospital.
