A/Prof Philip Mottram

Philip is a clinical cardiologist who is recognised nationally as an expert in the assessment of cardiac function with echocardiography. He has a PhD in advanced cardiac imaging and is a co-author of more than 30 peer-reviewed journal articles. Philip has particular expertise in stress echocardiography for the assessment of patients at increased cardiovascular risk, and patients with chest pain syndromes or exertional dyspnoea where a cardiac cause may be suspected. His other clinical interests include general clinical cardiology, heart failure and the assessment of valvular heart disease with transoesophageal echocardiography.

Philip also has a strong interest in assessment of coronary artery disease and cardiac abnormalities with cardiac CT and currently holds Level B accreditation for cardiac CT with the CSANZ. At present, Philip is Head of Non-Invasive Cardiac Imaging at Monash Heart, Southern Health and also holds an Adjunct Senior Lecturer position with the Department of Medicine, Monash University.
