Dr Adam Stewart is a dual-trained Infectious Diseases Physician and Clinical Microbiologist with international fellowship experience in transplant and immunocompromised host infectious diseases. He has a special interest in invasive fungal diseases, bloodstream infections, antimicrobial resistance, and infections in oncology and transplant populations.
Dr Stewart holds a Bachelor of Biomedical Science and graduated with First Class Honours and a University Medal in Medicine from Griffith University. He completed a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine at James Cook University and is currently completing a Master of Biostatistics at the University of Sydney.
Following specialist training in Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology in Queensland, Dr Stewart undertook an advanced clinical and research fellowship in transplant and immunocompromised host infectious diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University in Boston, USA. He has also completed the Harvard Medical School Global Clinical Scholars Research Training Program and is an active academic at the University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research.
Dr Stewart has authored over 90 peer-reviewed publications and is actively involved in national and international clinical trials and research consortia. He serves on several professional committees and editorial boards, including the JAC-Antimicrobial Resistance and the Journal of Transplantation.
He is passionate about translating cutting-edge research into clinical practice, improving diagnostics and therapeutics for difficult-to-treat infections, and mentoring the next generation of clinician-researchers.
