Dr Brett Drury is an Australian trained ophthalmologist who has undertaken advanced anterior segment surgical training at world leading institutions, the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.
Dr Drury completed his Ophthalmology training in Queensland before moving to the United Kingdom to undergo subspecialty training in glaucoma. He trained at the renowned Manchester Royal Eye Hospital (MREH) and is experienced in the full array of glaucoma procedures including traditional surgery such as trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage implants, as well as Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS). Following this he was trained by Professor Laurence Hirst, becoming the only Ophthalmologist on the Gold Coast accredited to perform, P.E.R.F.E.C.T for Pterygium® surgery.
To enable a full spectrum of anterior segment care, Dr Drury completed a corneal fellowship at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, acquiring skills in corneal transplantation, refractive surgery and the management of corneal and external eye disease.
Due to his passion for education and appreciation for those who have taught him throughout his career, Dr Drury also supervises the training of future Ophthalmologists on the Queensland ophthalmology training program.
He consults and performs surgery at both Coolangatta and Southport to provide excellent care to the Gold and Tweed Coasts.
