Dr Joseph Kong is a consultant colorectal surgeon at Holmesglen Private, Cabrini Hospital, Alfred Hospital and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
He initially completed his FRACS in 2014 through St. Vincent’s Hospital, before undertaking a PhD in colorectal cancer immunology at Peter MacCallum Cancer Center. He continued two years of post-FRACS fellowship training in colorectal surgery through CSSANZ at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane and Alfred Hospital.
He then went on to a third fellowship in Advanced Colon and Rectal Cancer Fellowship on robotic surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Centre, Houston, Texas.
Dr Kong has a particular interest in all general and colorectal conditions including hernias, haemorrhoids, perianal fistula, pilonidal disease, inflammatory bowel disease, small bowel cancer, appendiceal cancer, peritoneal cancer and colorectal cancer.
He is a Senior Research Fellow at Monash University and continues to have an active role in academia including education, teaching, quality assurance and translational research in colorectal cancer immunology.
Dr Kong has authored in numerous reviewed publications and book chapters.
