Dr Erwin Groeneveld

Dr Erwin Groeneveld is an ophthalmologist with more than 25 years of experience who undertakes cataract surgery, manages glaucoma and attends ocular emergencies including retinal detachment surgery. He is a graduate of the University of Queensland Medical School who was born in Sydney and educated in Queensland. He was trained in ophthalmology at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital where he undertook advanced training in complex retina surgery as a fellow in the Melbourne University Department of Ophthalmology. He worked in Queensland Public hospitals until 2016 and established the inaugural Advanced Training Post in Retinal Surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. In 2005, he introduced injection therapy for Macula Degeneration and Diabetes into the Queensland Public hospital sector. He has served as an officer in the Australian Army Reserve and he has worked as a volunteer AusAID surgeon in the Pacific islands.
