Dr Heidi Peverill is a breast, oncoplastic, and melanoma surgeon. After completing her medical training at Monash University and graduating with honours, she undertook advanced training to become fully qualified in oncoplastic breast surgery. She has also completed a Master of Advanced Breast Surgery and has been a full member of BreastSurgANZ since 2013.
As a member of both the RACS Younger Fellows committee and Women in Surgery section, Dr Peverill supports and advocates for progression of opportunities for both young surgeons and women in medicine. In addition to her advocacy, Dr Peverill is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of surgeons. Through her role as a senior instructor and clinical tutor for students at UQ, she instructs medical students and helps them progress into the medical environment.
Dr Peverill also serves as a national committee member and senior instructor for the Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient curriculum, a program which teaches doctors how to recognise and manage at-risk patients. She supports these programs in tandem with her own research in breast cancer prevention in young women.
Dr Peverill has worked publicly at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, where she established the first stand-alone breast reconstruction clinic and worked in their High Risk Breast Cancer service. Privately, she can be seen at the Women’s Health Centre at Gold Coast Private Hospital.
Outside of work, Dr Peverill enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and young daughter.
