Dr Katherine Martinez

Dr Katherine Martinez is a palliative care professional at Icon Cancer Centre Southport. Born in Manilla, Dr Martinez completed her Doctor of Medicine (MD) at the University of the Philippines College of Medicine in 2003. She subsequently commenced palliative medicine training in Queensland within Gold Coast, Metro North and Metro South Health Palliative Care Services. Dr Martinez is a fellow of both the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (FAChPM).

Dr Martinez is currently completing a Masters of Pain Medicine at the University of Sydney. She is also a palliative medicine staff specialist at The Prince Charles Hospital where she provides inpatient and consultation liaison support for patients in the Northern Brisbane area. Dr Martinez maintains a strong interest in medical education and has previously participated in a palliative care educational series for general practice.

Outside of her practice she enjoys exploring new cultures and places with her teenage kids and husband. Dr Martinez will gladly sit for an hour (or two) in the car to try new restaurants and has recently rediscovered the joys of motorbike trips riding pillion with her husband.
