Mr Mammen is an overseas trained Orthopaedic surgeon. He completed his MBBS in 1996, and Masters in Orthopaedic surgery (M.S) in 2003. He was an Orthopaedic consultant in India and came over to Australia in 2010 where he worked in the capacity of a Fellow in charge of Melbournes largest Trauma hospital, The Alfred Hospital.
He completed his further advanced training in 2015 (FRACS), and is currently employed as a consultant in the Western and Northern Hospitals. Mr Mammen's particular area of clinical interest are trauma, wrist and elbow. Matthan has been at the Alfred Hospital for 5 years and currently continues his work in complex trauma at the Western and Northern Hospitals.
He has also completed two fellowships for wrist and hand whilst at the Alfred Hospital. Mr Mammen is involved in multiple research projects at the Western Hospital, focused on the functional outcome of his complex trauma patients. He also oversees a clinic for adult post traumatic deformities at The Northern Hospital.
Mr Mammen is a first line assessor for the Victorian Audit of Surgical Mortality (VASM) and takes an active role in hospital as well as personal auditing of his cases.
