Dr Matthew Rowe was born and raised in Southeast Queensland. He began his studies with a Bachelor of Science, followed by a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Queensland, graduating in 2009. Following his General Medical training he trained in Cardiology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2017.
Matthew then undertook a further year of Fellowship training in Pacing and Electrophysiology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Following this he spent a further 2 years at the renowned London Health Sciences Centre in Canada focussing on ablation of atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia as well as complex cardiac device management.
Matthew has published research articles in Australian and international peer-reviewed medical journals on topics such as physiological pacing, atrial fibrillation and genetically inherited arrhythmias. He is currently an Associate Lecturer at The University of Queensland and also teaches medical students from Griffith University.
His particular interests include heart rhythm disorders, pacemakers and defibrillators, ablation of arrhythmias and genetically inherited cardiac conditions.
Currently he is employed as a Staff Specialist Electrophysiologist at Gold Coast University Hospital and Robina Hospital as well as consulting at the Specialist Suites and performing procedures at Gold Coast Private Hospital.
