Dr. Murray Tucker (he/him) is a consultant psychiatrist who completed his training in general adult psychiatry in Geelong. Murray obtained initial qualifications in exercise science and was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy for research examining age-related changes in balance control in 2010. He obtained his medical qualification in 2014 with Deakin University and a Masters of Psychiatry in 2019 with the University of Melbourne. Murray has research interests in neuropharmacology, psychiatric epidemiology, medical education, and consultation-liaison psychiatry.
Dr. Murray Tucker boasts a wealth of experience in both public and private sector psychiatry. He currently holds a pivotal role at Barwon Health's Mental Health, Drugs and Alcohol Services, where he has made significant contributions to the adult acute inpatient unit, emergency mental health, and community outreach teams. His extensive experience allows him to approach patient care with a comprehensive and holistic perspective.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Tucker is actively involved in medical education and training. As the coordinator of the Geelong Clinical School psychiatry rotation for senior Deakin University medical students, he is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of mental health professionals.
At the Geelong Clinic, Murray is director of the Learn to Eat at Peace (LEAP) 40 day inpatient group program. LEAP supports patients to begin the process of recovery from an eating disorder in a supportive multidisciplinary care environment.
