Dr Neil Smith

A/Prof Neil Smith is a consultant respiratory and sleep physician (adult).

He is a graduate of the University of Melbourne and holds a Fellowship from the Royal Australian College of Physicians in sleep and respiratory medicine and is also a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.

A/Prof Smith completed his training in respiratory medicine and sleep disorders medicine in Melbourne, training at the Austin and Repatriation Hospital and the Western Hospital.

He works in private practice at his main rooms at Hoppers Crossing and also consults at Sunbury Specialist Centre and John Fawkner Private Hospital in Coburg.

He has an interest in helping patients with obstructive sleep apnoea who need CPAP therapy but have trouble tolerating treatment.

A/Prof Smith also works in the Department of Respiratory Medicine at The Alfred Hospital and is involved with assessing patients with severe emphysema for lung volume reduction surgery.

Neil has been consulting at John Fawkner Private Hospital consulting suites since 1998 and lives in the local area.

Dr Smith is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Notre Dame Australia, Sydney School of Medicine and Werribee Clinical School where he is involved in teaching medical students.
