Born and raised in Brisbane, Dr Harris is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who
is dual qualified in both medicine and dentistry.
Dr Harris began academic life as a research scientist at the Orthopaedic
Research Laboratories in Sydney where he earned a PhD in bone biology and
biomechanics through the Division of Surgery at UNSW. During this time, he
als- lectured in anatomy at the School of Medicine and was an active member
of the Australian Ski Patrol in Thredbo.
His PhD in bone biology inspired an interest in surgery, s- he went on to
complete a Bachelor of Dentistry at Sydney University, followed by a Bachelor
of Medicine the at University of Queensland.
After his medical residency at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, Dr Harris worked as
a registrar in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Gold Coast Hospital. He
then entered advanced surgical training in oral and maxillofacial surgery and
was posted at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s, Princess Alexandra, Gold
Coast and Logan Hospitals.
