Dr Robert Gillies

Dr Robert Gillies (OAM) is a registered Medical Doctor (MBBS Hons) and Psychiatrist (FRANZCP) who practices clinically in Melbourne, Australia. He is a specialist in obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders (generalised anxiety, social anxiety, phobias, agoraphobia), general child and adolescent psychiatric conditions, and neurodevelopmental disorders including autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). 

Dr. Gillies holds an Advanced Certificate of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (Cert. Child Adol. Psych), a Master of Psychiatric Medicine (MPM), a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (MPH&TM), a Bachelor of Medical Science with Honours (BMedSc Hons), and a Diploma of Liberal Arts (DipLibArts). He also has accredited certificates in Autism Spectrum Disorder Diagnosis and Management.

Dr. Gillies completed his specialist psychiatric training over a five-year period at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. Whilst employed at The Alfred Hospital he undertook specialist clinical placements with the Alfred Hospital Adult Community Care Team, Child and Youth Mental Health Team, Adult Psychiatry Inpatient Team, Albert Road Adolescent Inpatient Team, Medical Consultation and Liaison Team, Infant Mental Health Team, Neurodevelopmental Team, and different Headspace Treatment Teams. During his speciality training he also provided fly-in psychiatric support to remote Australian communities during his annual leave.

Since graduating as a Psychiatrist, Dr. Gillies has practiced as an Inpatient Hospital Doctor at The Melbourne Clinic. In his role with The Melbourne Clinic, Dr. Gillies provides inpatient (hospital-based) psychiatric care to people with OCD and/or other general mental health conditions.

When Dr. Gillies is not treating people at The Melbourne Clinic, he runs The Evallies Clinic. The Evallies Clinic provides outpatient (community-based) psychiatric care to young people and adults with mental illness. Outside of clinical work, Dr. Gillies has worked as a Lecturer of Medicine and Psychiatry at Monash University, produced educational content as a host on medical podcasts, published original scientific research in peer-reviewed medical journals, and presented his research at international conferences.
