Dr Sarah Garner is an Infectious Disease Specialist and Medical Microbiologist. He holds dual specialty fellowships as both a physician (FRACP) and pathologist (FRCPA).
She works as a general ID Physician and Medical Microbiologist in Melbourne in both the private and public sectors.
Sarah undertook a Bachelor of Medical Science with First Class Honours as an undergraduate.
Being involved in the HIV sector for many years, she had a keen desire to undertake further research in HIV after finishing specialty training. She completed her PhD studies at WEHI in 2022. Sarah’s research looked at the role of cell death pathways in eradicating the latent reservoir of HIV.
Sarah is passionate about integrated care for her patients and working with patients as partners to help manage their health issues.
Sarah has also helped with development of guidelines for Infectious Diseases management for regional Victorian GPs.
She teaches medical students and junior doctors through her public appointments at Monash Health and Austin Health.
