Orthopaedic Surgery

Dr Terry Stephens completed his medical training through The University of Melbourne in 2006.  His orthopaedic training was completed in various hospitals in Victoria with attainment of The Fellowship of The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2016. 

Terry worked at Peninsula Health, Frankston Hospital for 18 months providing general orthopaedic services.   He then relocated to Canada for 2 years to obtain further advanced training in hip and knee replacement surgery and orthopaedic trauma. 

2018/19 was spent in Halifax Nova Scotia focussing on hip and knee replacement surgery and more specifically revision surgery focusing on infection and the painful joint replacement.  He then moved to Calgary in Alberta for a 12 month fellowship in orthopaedic trauma. 

The focus of this fellowship was treatment of the multiply injured patient and provided further specific skills in dealing with fractures close to joints, pelvic fractures, and soft tissue knee injuries.  

On return to Melbourne Terry has public hospital appointments at both the Alfred and Peninsula Health, Frankston and is providing orthopaedic services for Frankston, The Peninsula and the south eastern suburbs including Holmesglen Private Hospital.

 

Interests

His particular interest is hip and knee surgery including; revision procedures; general trauma including fractures around joint replacements, close to joints, the pelvis, and soft tissue knee injuries.
