Dr Darren Po is a dedicated gynaecologist committed to providing individualised, evidence-based care for women. With a focus on precise diagnosis and tailored management, Dr Po prioritizes minimally invasive techniques, such as laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, to ensure optimal outcomes with faster recovery times when surgery is required.
A graduate of the University of Adelaide Medical School (MBBS), Dr Po began his career at Lyell McEwin Hospital and the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in South Australia. These formative years solidified his passion for women’s health, inspiring him to pursue advanced training in obstetrics and gynaecology. In 2008, Dr Po relocated to Queensland, where he completed his specialist training, rotating through major hospitals including Mater Mothers’ Hospital (South Brisbane), Gold Coast, Caboolture, and Redland Hospitals. This diverse experience equipped him to handle complex gynaecological procedures in both busy tertiary centres and resource-limited rural settings. In 2014, he earned his Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG), alongside colleagues Dr Joseph Jabbour and Dr Nelson Gonzales.
Dr Po continues to serve as a part-time O&G Staff Specialist at Redland Hospital, where he mentors the next generation of specialists. His expertise lies in minimally invasive surgery, including laparoscopy, as well as abnormal cervical screening and colposcopy, ensuring women receive cutting-edge care for conditions such as endometriosis, fibroids, and abnormal bleeding.
Outside of medicine, Dr Po cherishes time with his wife and young son, enjoys international travel, and takes pride in maintaining his home on Brisbane’s bayside. His commitment to both his patients and community reflects his holistic approach to women’s health, blending clinical excellence with genuine care.
