Dr Kayla Ward is a neurologist with a clinical speciality in Neuroimmunology; particularly central nervous system demyelination disorders including Multiple Sclerosis, Neuromyelitis Optica and Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease. She completed her advanced training in Queensland prior to completing a Neuroimmunology Fellowship at the Brain and Mind Centre and the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney.  Dr Ward also completed neurophysiology training in her fellowship, with a focus on the diagnosis and management of autoimmune neuromuscular disease including Myasthenia Gravis and Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy.

Dr Ward is passionate about establishing a multidisciplinary clinic for patients with autoimmune disorders of both the central and peripheral nervous system. This would include provision of holistic care with allied health engagement to address overall well-being and consideration of appropriate disease modifying therapy with vigilant safety monitoring of disease, treatment and overall health.

Dr Ward is also a general neurologist who manages a wide range of neurological conditions such as stroke, epilepsy and headache disorders.

She is currently holding various academic positions including Senior Lecturer and Senior Research Fellow at Griffith University’s School of Medicine.

Dr Ward has a passionate interest in clinically applicable research. She is currently involved in a number of research projects and clinical trials with primary focus on Multiple Sclerosis and Myasthenia Gravis, which are conducted in collaboration with Gold Coast University Hospital and Griffith University.

Dr Ward is currently in charge of the neurology advanced training program at the Gold Coast University Hospital and leads the Robina Hospital Multiple Sclerosis service.
