Professor Pitman has occupied roles as Departmental Director of several departments including Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and St Vincent’s Melbourne. He was a partner in Lake Imaging in Ballarat and Geelong before starting Australia’s first regional PET-CT oncologic service (St John of God Hospital Ballarat). Professor Pitman was a Professorial Fellow in the Anatomy and Radiology Departments of the University of Melbourne and Adjunct Professor in Medical Imaging at the University of Notre Dame. Since 2018, Professor Pitman has occupied positions as Director of Imaging at Northern Beaches Medical Imaging and Honorary Professorial Fellow at the University of Sydney.
Professor Pitman has authored one textbook, several book chapters including Gray’s Anatomy and over 50 peer-reviewed articles. Professor Pitman’s professional interests include teaching of anatomy and imaging, perceptual error in radiology, anatomy and anatomical variants, medicolegal practice, professional practice standards via RANZCR.
