A/Prof. Alex Saxby is a consultant ENT surgeon with a particular clinical interest in complex ear surgery in both adults and children. His main areas of expertise include minimally invasive endoscopic (keyhole) ear surgery and hearing implants (including Cochlear Implants).
He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Sydney and head of Department for Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the Northern Beaches Hospital. Alex graduated from Cambridge University Medical School and later moved to Australia in 2002. After gaining his FRACS in 2011, he gained further experience at the Fisch Microsurgery Institute in Switzerland, Causse Clinic in France, British Colombia Children’s Hospital and St Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada and Borgo Trento Hospital in Verona, Italy.
Alex is an Australian representative for the International Working Group on Endoscopic Ear Surgery (IWGEES), promoting research into minimally invasive ear surgery. He co-founded the Sydney Endoscopic Ear Surgery Research Group, has directed multiple international training courses and regularly speaks internationally on the subject.
