Alison Turner is a registered Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc. (AAPI). Alison holds a Bachelor of Science with Psychology Honours and a Bachelor of Business. She is currently studying toward a Graduate Certificate in Domestic Violence Responses at Queensland University of Technology.
Alison works with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, mood and personality disorders, trauma including PTSD, grief, self-harm, suicidal ideation, relationship issues, and gender identity. She is also experienced in conducting psychometric assessments and diagnosis of conditions such as intellectual impairment, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and learning difficulties and disorders.
Alison is particularly passionate about women’s mental health and wellbeing including transitioning through midlife career, relationship and family changes, adjusting to new health conditions and navigating the natural changes imposed by menopause and aging.
Alison draws on lived experience in a neurodivergent household to provide a compassionate, neuro-affirming space where clients can work toward positive change and achievement of their goals. She utilises a range of evidence-based treatment approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Emotional Freedom Techniques (Tapping), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Alison is available for appointments on Mondays (fortnightly), Tuesdays and Thursdays.
