Dr Andrew McBride is a Queensland trained orthopaedic surgeon who has interstate and international advanced fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery and a particular interest in the management of amateur and professional athletes and the treatment of arthritis and rotator cuff disease.

Dr McBride was educated at the University of Queensland and graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2002. He went on to medical school at the University of Tasmania to complete a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. During this time, Dr McBride worked as a sports physiotherapist for the World Championship Tour for Surfing and alongside Peter Eckhardt the head physiotherapist for the Australian Olympic Team.

Dr McBride completed his Shoulder Fellowship in Annecy, France at the Alps Surgery Institute. This fellowship focused on arthroscopic shoulder surgery for rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, tendon transfers and shoulder joint replacement. Dr McBride returned to Australia to undertake further advanced training in shoulder, elbow and upper limb surgery with the Melbourne Orthopaedic Group under Dr Greg Hoy, one of Australia’s leading upper limb sports orthopaedic surgeons. Dr McBride then went back to Lyon France to complete further advanced training in sports shoulder surgery  and joint replacement surgery at Santy Orthopaedics with Professor Lionel Neyton.

Dr McBride has maintained a keen interest in research throughout his career to ensure his patients are provided with the most up to date information and treatment for their conditions. He has ongoing interstate and international projects and numerous publications in peer reviewed journals.

Dr McBride was born in southeast Queensland, is married and has three young children. He enjoys an active lifestyle and feels privileged to be able to contribute to the healthcare of the Queensland and Northern New South Wales community.
