Associate Professor Andrew Strickland is a medical oncologist and clinical researcher specialising in gastrointestinal cancer. His practice is in the areas of bowel, pancreas, stomach and oesophageal cancers as well as some other less common GI tumours.
Andrew was born in Melbourne and obtained his medical degree at Melbourne University. He completed his training in medical oncology with the Royal Australian College of Physicians. He then undertook a fellowship at Guy’s Hospital in London where he worked in the area of upper gastrointestinal cancer.
He has broad experience managing patients with a wide range of tumours but Andrew’s sole focus now is GI cancer. He is the tumour stream lead in gastrointestinal cancer at Monash and regularly participates in the multidisciplinary team meetings there.
Associate Professor Strickland is an active member of the Australian Gastrointestinal Trials Group (AGITG), the Medical Oncology Group of Australia (MOGA) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). He has published over 70 peer reviewed articles and reviews and has acted as a reviewer for a number of journals.
