Dr Arash Taheri graduated as a doctor with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours from the University of Tasmania in 2001. He spent the first four years of his training at the Royal Hobart Hospital where he completed his Internship, Basic Surgery and first year of unaccredited orthopaedic registrar trainings.
Dr Taheri then worked in Melbourne for two years before being selected and completing his Advanced Surgical Training program in Perth, Western Australia in 2008. He developed his skills and career further with international fellowship experience working with highly regarded surgeons across America through the University of Southern California – Keck Medicine, where he spent 7 months learning robotic joint replacement, becoming the first Australian Fellow to be fully trained in Stryker/Mako robotics.
Since his return to Australia, Dr Taheri has been pioneering Robotic Joint Replacement and Robotic Surgery. He is now one of the highest volume hip and knee robotic arm-assisted joint replacement surgeons in Australia. He has given National and International presentations on Robotic joint replacement and Enhanced recovery, including most recently performing a Masterclass for the Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetist’s Annual Scientific Meeting in Malaysia (2019).
Dr Taheri is an active member of the Orthopaedic community being a key driver in establishing the Enhanced Recovery Program (ERP) at Joondalup Health Campus for joint replacement patients. The ERP program has resulted in an enhanced patient experience by a collaborative team approach that is actively:
Reducing the length of hospital stay after surgery
Improved patient pain management and;
Faster patient recovery times after major surgery
Dr Taheri currently operates at Mount Hospital.
