Arif went to undergraduate Medical School in the Republic of Ireland. He then undertook postgraduate training in Australia (in Perth and Sydney), being awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2012. He then undertook post fellowship training in Perth in Bariatric Surgery.

In 2024, Dr Valibhoy started performing the Allurion Gastric balloon for weight loss. This is the world's first and only swallowable gastric balloon.

Apart from his practice based in Perth, Dr Valibhoy regularly conducts rural weight loss clinics in the Kimberley including Broome and Kununurra.
