Dr Benjamin Hope

Dr Benjamin Hope is an Orthopaedic surgeon focussing on surgery of the hand upper limb. Dr Hope graduated with an MB,BS degree (Hons) from the University of Tasmania in 2000. After relocating to Queensland in his intern year, he began Orthopaedic training in 2006.

He obtained fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, in Orthopaedic surgery in 2009. Deciding to focus on the hand and upper limb, he was accepted into the prestigious Sydney Hospital and St Lukes fellowship and completed 12 months further training in surgery of the hand and wrist. Extensive microvascular experience, alongside some of the best microsurgeons in Australia, was one of the highlights of this valuable time.

After leaving Sydney at the end of 2010, he completed a fellowship in shoulder surgery at the Instituo Clinico Humanitas, in Milan, alongside renowned shoulder surgeon Dr Alessandro Castagna in 2011. Dr Hope competed his further advanced training, in upper limb surgery, by then spending 6 months as a fellow in the Princess Alexandra Hospital upper limb unit in 2011.

He joined the unit as a consultant surgeon in 2012. Since 2012 Dr Hope has maintained a public appointment at Princess Alexandra Hospital and is in private practice as a member of the Hand and Upper Limb Clinic, based at Brisbane Private Hospital.
