Dr Bernard Schick is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with a particular focus on hand and wrist surgery. He has a particular clinical interest in bone and soft tissue trauma to the hand including extensive experience managing complex wrist injuries. He performs the full gambit of reconstructive hand surgery and is highly trained in microsurgery, small joint replacement, wrist arthroscopy and endoscopic carpal tunnel release using the single portal technique (MicroAire), which has the advantage of avoiding any incisions on the palm. Dupuytren’s surgery is also a particular interest and he performs collagenase injections for this condition when indicated.

Dr Schick also has a Post Graduate Sports Medicine degree and is enthusiastic about returning patients to their sporting and work activities as soon as possible after injury or surgery. He is a passionate educator and his many teaching commitments include Anatomy teaching for surgical trainees at the University of New England and he is the course coordinator for the Microsurgery component of the Sydney University Masters of Surgery.

He is heavily involved in clinical and laboratory research and regularly is asked to present his expertise at hand surgery meetings. Dr Schick has two public hospital VMO appointments including the prestigious Sydney Hospital Hand Surgery unit as well as Prince of Wales Hospital as an Orthopaedic Surgeon focussing on hand and wrist surgery.
