Dr Chamica specialises in adult endocrinology. She has special interest in Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, Osteoporosis, Adrenal disorders, Pituitary dysfunction, Thyroid disorders, Disorders of calcium metabolism and hyperparathyroidism, Menopause and Transgender health.
Graduating from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2003. She completed her specialist training at Nambour Hospital, Princess Alexandra Hospital and Gold Coast University Hospital. Dr Chamica has travelled extensively and worked in multiple hospitals across Queensland, including Gold Coast University Hospital, Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Townsville University Hospital and Cairns Hospital. Hence she has a wide experience working across multicultural groups.
Dr Chamica prides herself in her ability to listen to her patients’ needs and her empathetic patient-centred care. She enjoyed teaching medical students at the University of Queensland, and was an associate lecturer at Griffith University and Bond University.
She was involved in a multicentre randomised control trial in the use of monoclonal antibodies in the treatment of T1DM. Her presentations include atypical forms of osteoporosis, management of bilateral adrenal adenomas and endocrine hypertension.
In her spare time, she enjoys travelling with her family, participating in triathlons and marathons.
