Cardiothoracic Surgery

Dr Cheng He is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon who grew up in Melbourne and is an alumnus of Scotch College and The University of Melbourne Medical School.

Dr He completed cardiothoracic surgical training at the Prince Charles Hospital and the Alfred Hospital. After being awarded Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery (FRACS) from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, he further completed a Cardiothoracic Fellowship at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne before relocating to the Gold Coast with his young family. Dr He is a staff specialist cardiothoracic surgeon at Gold Coast University Hospital.

Dr He’s surgical practice involves all aspects of cardiac and thoracic surgery, with a particular focus on total arterial coronary revascularisation and minimally-invasive lung surgery.

Dr He has contributed his knowledge and experience to a number of research publications and authored book chapters. A keen educator, as a Senior Lecturer at the School of Medicine, Griffith University and a surgical skills instructor for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Dr He is also passionate about encouraging patients to learn about their condition and be empowered in selecting the most appropriate therapy for them.
