Dr Chilton Chong is one of the first graduates of the two-year BreastSurgANZ post-fellowship training program, the peak accrediting body for breast surgeons in Australia and New Zealand.
His first fellowship year was spent training with the Breast and Endocrine Unit at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide, South Australia, during which time he obtained the Certificate of Clinician Performed Ultrasound (CCPU) with the Australian Society of Ultrasound Medicine.
He then spent his second fellowship year training in oncoplastic and reconstructive techniques at Royal Perth Hospital, Western Australia.
Chilton is one of the few breast cancer surgeons in Victoria who is formally trained to perform his own implant-based breast reconstructions without the need for a plastic surgeon at the same as their mastectomy. This means scheduling surgery is easier and patients deal with just one surgeon. He is also one of the few breast cancer surgeons in Melbourne regularly performing oncoplastic breast cancer surgery using established plastic surgery techniques to reshape the breast itself in order to remove the tumour.
Dr Chong accepts both private (Holmesglen Private) and public (Monash Health) patients via his rooms in Bentleigh East.
