Dr Choon Lee is a very experienced clinician in Cardiology and has had wide clinical exposure to Haematology and Medical Oncology. He is a recipient of the prestigious President Scholarship (Singapore), The Everard Prize (University of Adelaide) for academic achievements and the Albert Baikie Medal for research in Haematology.
He has numerous publications in the field of Cardiology, Haematology and Oncology and General Medicine. His research interests have led to directorships in two ASX listed biotechnology companies being the Director of Science in those two listed companies. He has also sat as a member on the Scientific Advisory Board for a 3rd /ASX listed company.
He has been a foundation Cardiologist at Nepean Hospital and initiated the Cardio Oncology Clinic at the hospital in 2018. As Chairperson of the Medical Staff Council and one of two permanent members for many years on the Medical Appointment Committee in the 1990s, he helped to shape the development of the hospital and the careers of many of his colleagues
He has maintained a strong interest in Cardio Oncology, the management of ischemic heart disease, valvular heart disease, cardiac failure and atrial fibrillation and the use of antiplatelet agents and parenteral/oral anticoagulation particularly in patients with multiple medical problems that cross several disciplines.
He views the patient as a whole person and is not hesitant to cross disciplines and consult other disciplines when necessary. He has provided prompt and valuable services in perioperative medicine to his surgical colleagues. Echocardiography, stress echocardiography and 24 hour ambulatory Holter monitoring are offered daily at the Nepean Heart Centre
