Dr Christopher Spelman is an Australian fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon. He completed his medical degree at Monash University and subsequently undertook his orthopaedic training in New South Wales. He has a Master’s degree in Sports Medicine from The University of Queensland.
Dr Spelman’s post fellowship training focussed on management of hip and knee disorders and trauma surgery across all ages. He undertook advanced training at The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne as the hip and sports fellow, and at Westmead Children’s Hospital Sydney focussing on paediatric hip conditions and limb reconstruction. He also completed a fellowship at Prince of Wales and Sydney Children’s Hospital, with extensive experience in hip and knee conditions in both children and adults.
Dr Spelman has a particular interest hip preservation surgery and management of hip dysplasia. He has particular clinical interest and expertise in direct anterior approach hip replacement and periacetabular osteotomy surgery.
