Dr Chun How Gan is a dedicated and compassionate gastroenterologist who is committed to providing exceptional care to his patients.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Melbourne in 2007 and completed his Basic Physician Training at St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne. Dr Gan's passion for gastroenterology led him to pursue Advanced Training in the field in Queensland, where he gained extensive experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders.
Dr Gan's pursuit of knowledge and skills in gastroenterology is evident in his completion of several fellowships and a PhD. He completed a colonoscopy fellowship at Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital in 2018, followed by a second fellowship in advanced luminal endoscopy at Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in 2019. These fellowships enabled him to develop expertise in performing complex endoscopic procedures and treating challenging cases.
In addition to his clinical training, Dr Gan earned a PhD in Lynch syndrome, a hereditary condition that increases the risk of developing bowel and extra-colonic cancers. His research, conducted under the guidance of Professor Finlay Macrae at the Royal Melbourne Hospital (University of Melbourne), focused on understanding the genetic and clinical features of this condition.
Currently, Dr Gan is the clinical lead in the Familial Bowel Cancer Clinic at Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, where he provides specialised care to patients with hereditary gastrointestinal cancer syndromes.
