Dr Damien Tharmaratnam

Dr Damien Tharmaratnam is a Geriatrician with an interest in dementia diagnosis and management. He has a particular interest in providing care within nursing homes. Damien enjoys working closely with GPs and aged care facilities to provide a comprehensive aged care service.

Dr Tharmaratnam is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He graduated from Monash University in 2011 and completed his advanced training at Monash Medical Centre and Austin Health.

Damien has a passion for improving care of the elderly within residential aged care facilities and is available for nursing home visits. One of Damien’s areas of expertise is Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments. This is an in-depth assessment which is key in improving the quality of life of elderly people. This includes a comprehensive assessment of: cognition, falls risk, medication side effects, nutrition, mood, continence and advanced care planning.
