Dr David Broe is an orthopaedic surgeon at Prince of Wales Private Hospital with particular expertise in lower limbs and has substantial experience in hip and knee surgery as well as orthopaedic trauma. He has a particular interest in joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee, arthroscopic cartilage/meniscal repair and ligament reconstruction of the knee.
Dr Broe graduated with First class honours from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). He completed the basic surgical training programme in Dublin and received the MRCSI degree. He completed orthopaedic training in Sydney in 2010 after attaining his fellowship (FRACS) examination.
Following that he did a fellowship in hip and knee replacement surgery in Sydney and then travelled to Europe to do a fellowship in arthroscopic/sports surgery about the knee.
Dr Broe has a genuine interest in research and has a series of publications as well as ongoing research projects. He is a conjoint lecturer for medical students at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons & surgical trainees. He participates extensively in orthopaedic registrar teaching and training.
Dr Broe works with many amateur organisation and professional sporting teams. He is currently associated with the Waratahs, Australian 7s teams. He is also the doctor/orthopaedic knee expert for the Manly Sea Eagles NRL team.
