Dr David Joseph is a highly experienced laparoscopic, upper gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary surgeon based in Sydney. He specialises in minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery for both common and complex conditions affecting the oesophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas and biliary system.
He provides expert care across a broad range of procedures, with particular focus on gallbladder surgery, hernia repair, and bariatric (weight loss) surgery. Consultations are available in Newtown and via telehealth where appropriate.

Training & Experience
Dr Joseph completed his medical degree at the University of Sydney (MBBS) in 1996 and undertook specialist training in General Surgery at Royal Prince Alfred and Concord Hospitals.
He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2004.
He completed advanced training in surgical oncology and hepatobiliary surgery at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, followed by a fellowship in liver transplantation in 2006, where he was appointed as a Staff Specialist Surgeon.
In 2007, he undertook further fellowship training at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (USA), a high-volume, world-renowned centre. During this time, he gained extensive experience in complex hepatobiliary surgery, transplantation, and advanced bariatric surgery.
