Dr. David Liu is a General and Upper Gastrointestinal surgeon, servicing Melbourne’s burgeoning Northern, Eastern and Western suburbs. He consults at Whittlesea Specialist Centre, Whittlesea La Trobe and Northpark Private Hospitals, Bundoora. David also practices at Austin Health, The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, and Warringal Private Hospital. Delivering timely, consistent, compassionate, and high-quality care to his patients are his core values.
David graduated from Medicine at the University of Melbourne in 2007. He commenced specialist General Surgery training in 2011 at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and at Austin Health. David undertook additional Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery training through the prestigious AANZGOSA (Australia & Aotearoa New Zealand Gastric & Oesophageal Surgery Association) program at Flinders Medical Centre, South Australia, and Austin Hospital, Victoria. In these centres, David trained with internationally renowned surgeons, and performed high volume surgery for the treatment of gastro-oesophageal cancers, acid-reflux disease, hiatus hernias, obesity, achalasia, pharyngeal diverticulum, and complex abdominal wall hernias.
Furthermore, David undertook sub-specialist training in gastro-oesophageal cancer surgery at Seoul National University Hospital, Korea (A centre which performs >1000 cancer resections per year), and Utrecht Medical Centre, The Netherlands.
