Dr David Van Der Straaten

Dr David van der Straaten is a skilled eye surgeon and comprehensive ophthalmologist, practicing in Bayside since 2008. He operates most weeks at Holmesglen Private Hospital, providing surgical treatment for:

• Cataract – astigmatism correction, extended depth of focus and multifocal lens options

• Pterygium with conjunctival graft

• iStent insertion

• Eyelid surgery - excision of skin cancers and reconstruction,
  correction of ectropion/entropion

• Tear duct surgery – dacryocystorhinostomy

• Trauma to the eye or eyelids

• Orbital implants, enucleation/evisceration

Dr van der Straaten is a member of the Holmesglen Medical Advisory Committee and is currently the Director of Ophthalmology at Alfred Health.  He has been an active member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists as a Council member and Victorian RANZCO Branch Chair for several years. He is actively involved in training the next generation of eye surgeons.
