Dr Andrei Diacon

Dr. Andrei Diacon is an Australian-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in the management of knee and shoulder conditions. His practice is defined by a commitment to individualized care, prioritizing non-operative management and joint preservation where possible. He offers a comprehensive surgical skillset, ranging from minimally invasive keyhole surgery for soft tissue sports injuries to robotic-assisted primary and complex joint replacement.

Subspecialty Training

Following his FRACS, Dr. Diacon completed two prestigious international fellowships. Firstly at the Bristol Knee Unit (UK) focusing on comprehensive soft tissue sports knee injuries and joint replacement. He then went on to the Wrightington Upper Limb Unit (UK) focusing on complex and revision shoulder replacement and sports soft tissue injuries of the shoulder. He worked closely with surgeons involved in the regular care of elite athletes during this time. In addition to this, Dr. Diacon spent time in Portland (USA) as part of his paediatric training, gaining valuable exposure to adolescent surgery.

Clinical Focus

• Knee: ACL reconstruction, meniscal & cartilage preservation, corrective osteotomy, patellofemoral instability, and robotic-assisted partial and total knee replacement.

• Shoulder: Keyhole surgery for rotator cuff tears, ACJ injuries, Latarjet procedure, shoulder stabilisation surgery, and shoulder replacement.

• Technology: Robotic-assisted surgery and customized, patient-matched implant solutions for severe deformity.

Public Appointments & Education

Dr. Diacon holds public appointments at Bayside Health (Peninsula) and Monash Health (Moorabbin). He remains active in surgical education as a trainer for orthopaedic registrars.

A former competitive skier and current kitesurfer on the bay, Dr. Diacon is dedicated to helping patients return to the active lifestyles they enjoy.
