Dr Balvinder Handa

Dr Balvinder Handa is a Consultant Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist. He is an expert in management of heart rhythm disorders and cardiac devices. His areas of expertise include catheter ablation of a range of arrhythmias including atrial fibrillation, implantation of cardiac devices (pacemakers, implantable defibrillators, and cardiac resynchronisation therapy devices), lead extractions and complex vascular access /venoplasty. He is also experienced in general cardiology, echocardiography, and in diagnosis and management of inherited cardiac conditions.

Dr Handa undertook his undergraduate medical training and later PhD at Imperial College London, UK. He completed his general cardiology training and a 3-year fellowship in Cardiac Electrophysiology and Devices at Hammersmith Hospital, part of the renowned Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. He has a strong interest in clinical research and medical education. He has authored a number of research articles, book chapters, a clinical patent and has received a number of high-profile international awards for his research. Dr Handa relocated to Perth shortly after qualifying as a consultant in the UK and currently also works as a Consultant Cardiologist at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.

Dr Handa is focused on delivering patient-centred care that is based on up-to-date evidence. He currently consults at Mount Hospital, St James and Midland rooms.
