Dr Caroline Mathias

Dr Caroline Mathias is a patient-centred and highly skilled gynaecologist committed to providing holistic care across all aspects of gynaecological health. She has a particular interest in the management of complex ovarian and uterine disorders, endometriosis and pelvic pain as well as has expertise in office Gynaecology. Dr Mathias works closely with her patients to develop personalised management plans that address both the underlying condition and its broader impact on quality of life.

Dr Mathias completed her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (FRANZCOG) and undertook two years of advanced surgical training through the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery Society (AGES) at Nepean Hospital. She is an advanced laparoscopic and robotic gynaecological surgeon with expertise in minimally invasive surgery for complex benign gynaecological conditions. Dr Mathias is also a staff specialist at Nepean Hospital where she remains actively involved in research and surgical education. She leads the U-ROC randomised clinical trial investigating non-surgical management of retained products of conception which has recently received grant funding. She is also the founder of the Nepean GLS (Gynaecology Laparoscopic Skills) workshop, an annual hands-on training initiative designed to support the development of laparoscopic skills among gynaecology trainees. She continues her extensive work in clinical governance aimed at improving patient outcomes through the development of safer, more efficient hospital services.

Dr Mathias continues to expand her horizons through international visiting fellowships, such as her time at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, ensuring she remains at the forefront of evidence-based practice and surgical innovation. She looks forward to welcoming patients to her practice and supporting them through their healthcare journey with clear guidance, compassion, and personalised care.
