Dr Daniel Winson is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in adult foot and ankle surgery and paediatric orthopaedics. Dr Winson focuses on a diverse array of adult foot and ankle issues, such as:
Bunion surgery
Fusion surgery
Flat foot reconstruction
Cavovarus foot correction
Lateral ligament reconstruction, and
All types of foot and ankle trauma.
Daniel is very proficient in arthroscopic procedures and provides a wide range of these treatments, including:

Arthroscopic triple fusion
Arthroscopic subtalar fusion
Arthroscopic FHL transfer, and
Arthroscopic fixation of osteochondral defects

He completed his general Orthopaedic training in Wales (UK), earning his Fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh in 2020. Following this, he pursued specialised fellowships in Foot and Ankle Surgery and Paediatric Orthopaedics. His paediatric training was at the Queensland’s Children's Hospital in Brisbane and Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital in Cardiff, while his Foot and Ankle fellowship was conducted in Brisbane with Dr Ben Forster and Dr Michael Lutz.
In 2022, Dr Winson became a Consultant at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff before relocating to Brisbane, where he received his Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
Dr Winson holds public appointments at the Queensland Children’s Hospital, Logan Hospital, and Townsville University Hospital. He also has a strong interest in sports-related Foot and Ankle injuries and holds a master’s degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine. Dr Winson provides medicolegal services for Integrity Medico-legal, based in Brisbane.
Dr Winson serves as a Senior Lecturer at Griffith University and the University of Queensland. He has been instrumental in establishing the Diabetic Foot Research Hub in partnership with Griffith University, aimed at enhancing diabetic foot care research. Additionally, he is a reviewer for the Foot and Ankle Surgery Journal, the official publication of the European Foot and Ankle Society.
