Dr Elie Sawan

Dr Elie Sawan is an Adult and Paediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) with over a decade of clinical, academic, and leadership experience. He completed his Doctor of Medicine (2008) and Adult Cardiothoracic Surgery training in Beirut, followed by an advanced Paediatric Cardiac Surgery Fellowship at the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne. He subsequently served as Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon and Senior Lecturer at Hôtel-Dieu de France Hospital and University, Beirut, for over six years, before undertaking a further Adult Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship at Westmead Hospital, Sydney.

Dr Sawan's subspecialty interests span the full spectrum of adult and congenital cardiac surgery, encompassing neonatal and infant surgery, the Ross Procedure, Adult Congenital Heart Disease, coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repair and replacement, aortic surgery, ECMO and VAD, cardiac transplantation, pacemaker and defibrillator insertion, and minimally invasive cardiac surgery. He is an active clinician-researcher with publications in leading cardiothoracic journals and a strong commitment to surgical education and mentorship.
