Dr Emily He is a consultant gastroenterologist and hepatologist with extensive clinical experience in gastrointestinal and liver disorders. She is highly experienced in all aspects of general gastroenterology, including bowel cancer screening and polyp removal, gastroesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer disease and functional gastrointestinal disorders. She has a particular interest in liver disease, especially the management of viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease and liver cancer.
Dr He graduated from the University of NSW with honours in 2005. After completing her gastroenterology specialist training at Prince of Wales Hospital, she received a prestigious National Health and Medical Research Council Postgraduate Research Scholarship and the White-Walker Cancer Research Scholarship to conduct doctoral research in bowel cancer screening at the University of NSW and University of Oxford. She also completed a Churchill Fellowship to study emerging technologies and platforms in optimising bowel cancer screening. Dr He has authored numerous publications in bowel cancer screening and continues as a senior research fellow in bowel and liver cancer control at the University of Sydney. She is a member of the working party for the Australian bowel cancer screening and liver cancer surveillance guidelines.
Dr He is passionate about combining her clinical experience and research skills to provide her patients with the most comprehensive, evidence-based care. She values the importance of effective communication and embraces a compassionate, caring and attentive approach when engaging with her patients.
She is a Staff Specialist at Concord Hospital and consults at Randwick, Burwood and Concord.
