Dr Jessica Triay is a Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetes Lead at Gold Coast University Hospital with more than a decade of consultant specialist experience across Australia and the United Kingdom. She provides comprehensive endocrinology care while leading the strategic development of diabetes services at Gold Coast Hospitals and Health Service.
Jessica has developed a reputation for combining evidence-based clinical care with service innovation. Alongside a broad endocrinology practice, she has particular interests in complex diabetes management, diabetes technology, inpatient diabetes care, integrated multidisciplinary services and the implementation of emerging therapies. After graduating from St George's Hospital Medical School, University of London, Jessica completed specialist training in Diabetes & Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine in the United Kingdom before undertaking a Clinical Research Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where she investigated fatty acid metabolism and metabolic disease. Her research from this period has resulted in multiple publications in leading international endocrinology journals.
Since moving to Australia in 2015, Jessica has held consultant positions in both regional Victoria and Queensland since late 2023.
Jessica maintains a strong commitment to research and innovation. She is Principal Investigator for industry-sponsored clinical trials evaluating novel therapies for diabetes and vascular disease and immunotherapy in Type 1 diabetes. She has also supervised numerous medical student and junior doctor research projects, helping develop the next generation of clinician researchers. Education is an important component of her practice. She supervises Advanced Trainees in Endocrinology, mentors diabetes educators and has been an invited speaker for national meetings, specialist education programs and pharmaceutical educational events.
Jessica is an active member of the Queensland Diabetes Network, contributes to statewide diabetes clinical pathway development and serves on the steering committee of the Australian Type 1 Diabetes Clinical Improvement (ATIC) collaborative. She remains committed to improving access to high-quality diabetes care through collaborative clinical leadership, research and service innovation.
