Dr Leigh Archer

Dr Archer is a General Surgeon with a special interest in upper GI and bariatrics. He is a recognised fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a member of the Australia and New Zealand Gastro Oesophageal Surgery Association, Australia and New Zealand Metabolic and Obesity Surgical Society and the International Federation of Surgery for Obesity. 

Clinical interests include laparoscopic (keyhole) gastrointestinal and gallbladder surgery, endoscopy including some interventions and abdominal wall hernia repair. 

After completing his medical degree and junior doctor years in Sydney, Dr Archer relocated permanently to WA for completion of surgical training. Following admission into the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons he commenced a Fellowship with the Australia and New Zealand Gastro Oesophageal Surgery Association (ANZGOSA). 

Dr Archer has published multiple papers and participated in trials related to surgical oncology and upper GI disease. He has facilitated international surgical audits and spoken at international meetings. Mentoring and education have been demonstrated through roles with University of Sydney, University of Notre Dame and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Trainees’ Association. 

Dr Archer has been recognised for his communication and empathy. He is regarded as an understanding and caring specialist interested in your wellbeing.
