Dr Lewis Lam

Dr Lewis Lam is a subspecialty trained Vitreoretinal Surgeon, with a special interest in Cataract Surgery, and the newest member of the team at Eye Specialist Institute. Prior to his arrival on the Gold Coast, he worked as a full-time Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon at Christchurch Public Hospital, servicing a large area of New Zealand's South Island, where he participated in both the retinal and general on-call roster.

During his training, he rotated through different hospitals around New Zealand, seeing an extensive variety of diseases. He developed a passion for Vitreoretinal surgery and was accepted to study under the guidance of Drs Stephen Guest and David Worseley in the Waikato region in New Zealand's North Island.

During his fellowship, he noticed advancements in intraocular lens/cataract technology, and therefore, also undertook a Post-Graduate Diploma in Cataract and Laser Refractive surgery at the University of Sydney to refine his expertise.

Dr Lam is fluent in Mandarin. For the convenience of your patients, he is happy to consult in either English or Mandarin. Lewis endeavours to provide his patients with timely, precise and personable care. His approachable nature and tendency to work in collaboration with other health professionals has helped shape his ability to optimise patient outcome
