Dr Li‑On Lam is an Australian‑qualified, fellowship‑trained orthopaedic surgeon with a sub‑specialist interest in shoulder, knee, and hip surgery.
He completed his medical degree at the University of Western Australia and undertook specialist orthopaedic training through the Western Australian training scheme. Dr Lam subsequently completed advanced fellowship training in shoulder, knee, and hip surgery, including joint replacement and arthroscopic management of knee and shoulder conditions. He also undertook further fellowship training in general orthopaedic trauma, broadening his expertise across complex and acute orthopaedic care.
Dr Lam has a strong interest in education and training and is actively involved in the teaching of orthopaedic trainees. He serves on the State Training Committee as the convenor of Bone School, the formal tutorial programme for orthopaedic trainees, and has contributed to the development and implementation of the current orthopaedic training curriculum, helping shape the surgeons of the future.
He is passionate about global health and humanitarian work and has been involved with Australian Doctors for Africa, visiting Madagascar on multiple occasions to provide surgical care in challenging and resource‑limited environments.
Outside of work, Dr Lam and his wife have two young daughters, ensuring life is always busy, challenging, and rewarding. He is a keen squash player and serves as an Army reservist.
