Dr Mariya Abdulla

Dr Mariya Abdulla is a Queensland-trained general surgeon dedicated to providing exceptional, patient-centred care across the full breadth of general surgery. With subspecialty training in colorectal and pelvic floor surgery, and a strong foundation in advanced robotic and laparoscopic techniques, she brings a modern, minimally invasive approach to every procedure she performs.

Dr Abdulla has a particular interest in the management of benign and malignant colorectal disease, with a special focus on pelvic floor conditions such as incontinence and prolapse — areas where she is passionate about helping patients reclaim their quality of life.

Dr Abdulla’s journey into medicine began in London, where she grew up and completed her schooling, before pursuing her medical degree. She graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2011 from the Academy of Medical Sciences, Kannur Medical College, in Kerala, India. After her junior resident years, she went on to complete her general surgical training in Queensland from 2019 to 2022, gaining broad, hands-on experience across the specialty.

Building on this foundation, Dr Abdulla undertook subspecialty training in colorectal surgery across Brisbane and the Gold Coast from 2023 to 2026, including dedicated robotic surgical training at Gold Coast University Hospital. This training sharpened her expertise in pelvic floor pathology management, colorectal surgery, and the latest minimally invasive and robotic techniques.

Pelvic floor health remains one of Dr Abdulla’s true clinical passions. With over two years of dedicated experience in this field, she manages the full spectrum of pelvic floor conditions — from faecal incontinence to pelvic organ prolapse — through a multidisciplinary, minimally invasive approach designed around each patient’s individual needs and long-term wellbeing.

Outside the operating theatre, Dr Abdulla brings the same holistic philosophy to her own life — staying active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, values she carries into the way she cares for her patients. She feels privileged to serve the Brisbane and Gold Coast communities and is committed to walking alongside every patient on their path to better health.
