Dr Michael Piperoglou

Dr Michael Piperoglou has special interests in the assessment and management of bipolar disorder, ADHD, and complex psychopharmacology, with particular expertise in co-morbid mood disorders and anxiety in patients with ADHD. He has extensive experience treating treatment-resistant unipolar and bipolar depression, including the use of the MAOI antidepressant Parnate (tranylcypromine) as an alternative to ECT or TMS, or in cases where these treatments have been unsuccessful. Dr Piperoglou also incorporates evidence-based nutraceuticals, including omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins and supplements, to support cognition and optimise neurotransmission, with the aim of reducing reliance on higher doses of psychiatric medications where appropriate. As an authorised prescriber of medicinal cannabis, he provides treatment for selected patients with anxiety disorders, ADHD and autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and supports patients in withdrawing from benzodiazepines and opioid-based medications.
